Interactions Committee

Towards a 100% free and open source international DDI knowledge base!

Objectives

  • Review drug-drug, drug-disease, drug-patient, drug-labs interactions for knowledge bases, starting with essential drugs for scientific accuracy and clinical relevance
  • Test FreeHealth & FreeRx interaction engine
  • Improve alert design based on human factors principles
  • Promote the use of OpenDDI among other Interaction Committees (International Society of Drug Bulletins, institutions, governmental & non governmental agencies, industry)
  • Promote use of free and open standards for DDI knowledge base design
  • Promote free sharing of data among Interactions Committees
  • Promote open publishing of Interaction Committees reports and knowledge bases under free cultural licenses

Essential medicines

Essential medicines are those that satisfy the priority health care needs of the population. The WHO published its 19th Model List of Essential Medicines in 2015. Work needed to build a comprehensive open source drugs drugs interaction database is huge. We could start by concentrating our efforts on the WHO Model List of Essential Medicines for Children 1)
